Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My periods have been delayed for one and a half months, and I am experiencing a bloated stomach and sensitive breasts. I have never been sexually active or had any sexual contact. I missed my periods twice recently and have been on antibiotics for the past few months. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

It is possible that you may be experiencing a condition called polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which can cause irregular periods and symptoms such as bloating and breast tenderness. However, it is also possible that other underlying medical conditions may be contributing to your symptoms.

To further investigate the cause of your symptoms, it is recommended that you consult with a healthcare provider. They can perform a physical examination, review your medical history, and run additional tests as needed to help determine the cause of your symptoms and provide appropriate treatment options.

If you have been diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), it is important to understand that this is a hormonal condition that can affect various aspects of your health, including your menstrual cycle, fertility, and metabolism.

Some common symptoms of PCOS include the following:

  1. Irregular periods or no periods at all.

  2. Heavy bleeding during periods.

  3. Infertility or difficulty getting pregnant.

  4. Weight gain or difficulty losing weight.

  5. Acne or oily skin.

  6. Thinning hair or hair loss on the scalp.

  7. Excessive hair growth on the face, chest, or back (hirsutism).

  8. Mood changes, such as anxiety or depression.

I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions.

  1. A healthy diet and regular exercise to help manage weight and improve insulin sensitivity

  2. Medications to regulate hormone levels and manage symptoms such as acne or excess hair growth

  3. Birth control pills to help regulate periods and prevent pregnancy (if desired).

  4. Fertility treatments, such as ovulation induction or in vitro fertilization (IVF), if you are trying to conceive

  5. Counseling or therapy to help manage mood changes and other emotional symptoms associated with PCOS.

Kindly consult a specialist, and talk to them as they can advise a personalized treatment plan that meets your individual needs and goals. They can provide ongoing support and guidance as you navigate the management of PCOS.

I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you have any further queries.” with “information will help you.

Thank you.
