Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I engaged in protected sex with condoms last month, and I have not yet experienced my menstrual period. My last menstrual cycle occurred in the middle of last month, lasting for 4 days. According to the online app, today marks the 42nd day of my cycle. I conducted pregnancy tests approximately 9 to10 times over the past week, and each time, the results were negative. What steps should I take next?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I do understand your concern.

If you have consistently and correctly used condoms during protected sex, the likelihood of pregnancy is low. However, the accuracy of pregnancy test results might be affected if the test was taken too early. The earliest reliable time for a pregnancy test is around 14 days after possible conception, roughly in the middle of this month in your case. Another possibility is a delayed period, which can occur due to factors such as stress, hormonal imbalances, or changes in diet and exercise routine. In the meantime, continue using protection during sexual activity and consider taking another pregnancy test around the middle of this month. If your period has not arrived by then, it might be advisable to schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider for further evaluation.
