Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My son is 3.5 years old and has a small nodule-type lesson on his lip border. I request your opinion. Please help. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. The lesion is Molluscum contagiosum, a kind of cutaneous viral infection. It is very common in children. It presents as an umbilicated papule (the central part is depressed and has a central white core). It can easily be treated at a dermatologist's clinic by extirpating its core with a needle or cautery. If the child is apprehensive, you can apply Tretinoin 0.025% cream once at night for three weeks. It becomes inflamed initially and then subsides. With cautery or a needle, it can be removed within a few minutes and then heals in a week. With topical treatment, it can take longer. It is a benign condition and subsides within a few months, even if untreated. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
