Mumps

Mumps is a contagious viral disease caused by Mumps orthorubulavirus, with the common symptom of salivary gland swelling. Transmission is through inhalation, respiratory droplets and secretions, and close contact. Other symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, muscle pain, malaise, appetite loss, and sore throat. Several inflammatory conditions accompanying mumps are nephritis, orchitis, mastitis, oophoritis, encephalitis, sialadenitis, pancreatitis, and aseptic meningitis. Deafness also occurs in some people. MMR vaccine helps to prevent the disease.
