Does neck damage cause a cold sensation in my little finger?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have curvature of the spine, cervical scoliosis, and neck damage from a car accident 26 years ago. I have started to get a cold sensation on my little finger and ring finger. This sensation is now running up to my elbow on the outer side of my left arm. Sometimes the left hand appears to turn purple for a few minutes. The left hand is cold, but the right hand is at a normal temperature.

Is this related to my neck?

Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.

Yes, this is related to the neck, so you need to take a few tablets to see if it is improving. If not, you will require an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan of the cervical spine. You also need to take the following medications.

Take one tablet of Ibuprofen 400 mg in the morning and at night for ten days after food, one tablet of Pregabalin 75 mg at night for 15 days before food daily at 7 pm, one tablet of Rabeprazole 20 mg in the morning and at night for ten days before food, one tablet of Shelcal OS 500 mg (Calcium) at night for a month before food, and one tablet of Vitamin D 60k units once daily for ten days. Then take it once a month for three months.

  1. Apply Voveran gel locally twice daily over the area of pain.

  2. Do hot fomentation over the area twice daily.

  3. Take an ultrasound and physiotherapy. Take at least ten sittings in two weeks over the affected area.

Have a follow-up after two weeks to check the progress and, if possible, for any medication change.

I hope this answers your query.

Let me know if I need to assist you further.

Thank you.
