This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a stiff neck, fever, cough, throat pain, and redness throughout the body for the past three days. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You did not mention how long you are having this pain, considering it is within the last 24 hours. You are having acute pharyngitis so please follow the instructions.

The Probable causes

The probable cause is cross infections from some other person. You might have eaten contaminated food.

Investigations to be done

I suggest you undergo CBC (complete blood count) and ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate).

Differential diagnosis

The differential diagnosis is viral fever.

Probable diagnosis

The probable diagnosis is acute pharyngitis.

Treatment plan

I suggest you take the tablet Cefixime 200 mg and Clavulanic acid 125 mg twice daily with warm water. You can also take the tablet Paracetamol 650 mg daily for five days. Consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent.

Preventive measures

Drink plenty of warm water and hot soup.

Regarding follow up

Please follow up after five days.
