Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 27-year-old male with 6 feet having weakness and pain in both wrists. I am waking up at night with a dead arm multiple times. The condition is getting worse over the last two weeks and I have been taking Ibuprofen and resting, but the condition is not improving.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
Pain and weakness in the entire arm are related to nerve pressure in the cervical spine. I suggest you follow the instructions below.
Avoid lifting heavy weights.
Avoid arching your back; instead, bend your knees to pick up something from the floor.
Avoid sitting for long hours.
Avoid two-wheeler rides.
Improve your posture while sitting. Try to sit up with your back straight.
Try to get up from your chair every 20 minutes and take a quick walk around, and then continue working. Always sit on a chair with back support.
Do not get up suddenly from a sleeping position. Rather, turn to the side and then get up.
Take bed rest only if severe pain.
Do hot fomentations, locally over the affected area, at least twice daily.
I suggest you take the medicines below.
Apply Oxalgin gel (Diclofenac) for local application twice daily.
Take a tablet of Pregabalin (Gamma-aminobutyric acid) 75 mg for 15 days before food at 7 PM every day,
Take tablet Etoricoxib (Ferric oxide) 60 mg twice daily for 10 days after food.
Take a tablet Rabeprazole (Rabeprazole sodium) 20 mg twice daily, 10 days before food.
Take tablet Shelcal CT (Calcium) once daily, 30 days before food.
Take a tablet of vitamin D (60k) once daily for 10 days, then once a month for 11 months.
Do physiotherapy. Start core strengthening exercises, neck rotations, shoulder shrugs, and shoulder rotations. Start training under a physiotherapist. Physiotherapy should be started once the pain reduces. Avoid jogging, running, and weight-lifting. It can aggravate back problems. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent. Do not take these tablets if you have bronchial asthma.
I hope this helps you.
