Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had physical interaction with my wife, but there was no penetration. She got her period after two days. Is there any chance of pregnancy? Can her periods get delayed next month? Please help.
Kindly advise.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.
You need not worry about pregnancy. If she has got her periods after sexual contact, she cannot get pregnant. Delays in periods can be due to infection, hormonal issues, PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), anemia, vitamin deficiency, or dehydration. I would suggest the following measures:
If the infection causes white discharge, then tablet Doxycycline 100 mg can be taken twice a day for five days. Consult a specialist doctor and take these medications with their consent.
The hormonal issue can be diagnosed with TFT (thyroid function test).
PCOS can be diagnosed with an ultrasound abdomen.
In the case of anemia, hemoglobin levels must be measured.
Vitamin deficiency can be diagnosed by testing for folic acid, vitamin B, or vitamin D.
In case of dehydration, make sure you take adequate water.
For now, you can take Tablet Livogen (Iron and Folic acid) once a night. Further investigation will help plan treatment. Consult a specialist doctor and take medications with their consent.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you.
