Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My 16-year-old daughter has been gaining weight rapidly over the last year, and I am starting to get really concerned about her overall health. Both her father and I have a family history of diabetes. I am worried that she might be at risk if we do not address her obesity now. What steps can we take to help her manage her weight, and are there any specific health risks we should be aware of due to our family history?
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Obesity can be controlled by a strict and disciplined lifestyle with proper diet, workout, and good healthy habits. Start with a regular meal intake with low carbohydrate, more protein, and no fat foods. Follow a five-meal plan for a day that includes breakfast at 8 AM, brunch at 11 AM, lunch at 1.30 or 2 PM, evening meal at 5 PM, and dinner at 8:30 PM. Choose every amount with proper calorie intake. Avoid fast food or junk foods, and always go for regular checkups to keep your vitals in range. Start with exercises with low-intensity workouts and gradually increase with repetitions or weight.
According to the age, the person should be keen on doing some regular physical activity with proper breathing techniques and less screen time. Avoid low sugar level foods and check on the menstrual cycles. Involve in some dance or aerobics activities or walking which will help in maintaining a good weight.
I hope this information helps you.
Revert in case of queries.
Regards.
