Which medicine should be taken for OCD?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am not able to focus on my studies and concentrate. I have OCD. I searched about Fluvoxamine, Aripiprazole, and Vortioxetine. What should I do? Which medicine should I take for how much time, and dosage? If you are prescribing me, please tell me. May I know one of the safest medicines and how long does it take to work? I searched about many ADHD medicines which are not safe written on the internet. Bupropion and Axepta are not safe. Should I take Serotonin or a Dopamine supplement? If yes, which one for how much time and how much mg I should consider?

Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

As per your mentioned symptoms and history, you are going through OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) and depression. You need to start Fluvoxamine with Vortioxetine. Start with a low dose and gradually increase the dosage. Start exposure and response prevention, and psychotherapy with medicine for better results. Avoid smoking and drinking if any. If the above combination does not work, then start Fluoxetine with Clomipramine.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
