Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am concerned about my daughter’s oral health. She is 12 years old and she does not brush her teeth properly. Now her mouth smells differently when she wakes up from bed, also her teeth look yellow and dirty. How do I remove them? I tried brushing her teeth hard, but the dirt is not gone. What can be done for this? Is there any specific technique and accessories to brush teeth?

Thank you

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

The best option is to go and see a dentist to get her teeth and gums cleaned . Restore any teeth with cavities to prevent food debris build up which is the main cause of bad breath. The calculus or tartar will not go away easily just by brushing or using any hand instruments. After the basic cleaning and restoration by a dentist, it is easy to maintain by twice daily brushing after meals along with the use of interdental brushes and flosses. The use of an electric brush also is good if needed, and there is currently a hands-free scaler available for personal use to remove calculus and plaque but it is better to go see a dentist for the first time. Use warm salt water gargle twice daily for better oral hygiene and reduce bad breath.Thank you.
