Can PCOD be the cause of pregnancy symptoms with negative test results?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been having pain in my right lower abdomen and it extends to my back a bit. I took an abdominopelvic scan and the doctor said something about PCOD. My period is two weeks late and I took a pregnancy test but it came back negative. Although, I am having almost all the pregnancy symptoms. What do you think is wrong with me?

I am a 21-year-old female, 6 feet 1 inch in height and I weigh about 100 pounds.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As the pregnancy test is negative there is no chance of pregnancy and the ultrasound does not suggest any pregnancy. Delay in periods may be due to some hormone disturbance due to stress or other factors.

You can take the tablet Primolut N (Norethisterone) twice a day for five days. Periods will occur within a few days of stopping Primolut N (Norethisterone).

Can you send me ultrasound reports to read them properly?

It will help to advise you properly.
