HomeAnswersObstetrics and GynecologypcosI only had a few tiny red pieces during my last menses. Is it due to PCOS or ovarian cyst?

Does PCOS or the presence of ovarian cyst cause scanty blood flow during menses?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 33-year-old woman. I am unmarried. I have been suffering from PCOS for a long time. Yesterday, I went to my doctor, and she found an ovarian cyst. It is not serious, but it seems it has gotten a little bigger, around 1 cm as shown in the picture. Currently, I am taking Gynera for the second month. Last month, I did not have my period. I only saw a few tiny red pieces coming down in the toilet. So, I am worried about this cyst, and I want to know if it will decrease in size until it vanishes. My doctor told me that she will change the pills to Yasmin next month. I want to seek a second opinion on this.

Hello,

Welcome to the icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. It seems simple ovarian cyst (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). It will be resolved within two to three menstrual cycles. This medicine can help with the regression of the cyst. It will decrease in size eventually, not in a day. If you get severe abdominal pain or heaviness and any other symposium then visit the nearest hospital. It can rupture or get twisted on the base of the tube and ligaments. So be watchful for pain.

Thank you.
