Can psoriasis cause dark discoloration of the penis?

Hi doctor,

I have some dark discoloration on my penis. I showed it to my family doctor and he did some blood tests. He told me that there is nothing to be worried about it. But this concerns me a lot. I read a lot about penile cancers and figured discoloration as one of the early symptoms. I also came to know about other benign conditions like penile melanosis. Do I need to be worried? Do I need to consult a specialist? Do I require to do a biopsy? Is this a serious condition? I was diagnosed with psoriasis at the age of 32 and now I am 35 years old. Could this be an effect of psoriasis? Kindly advise.

I have gone through the attached image (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It seems to be benign penile melanosis. You need to know that there are some color changes observed in the coloration of penile melanosis. Your condition looks fine and you can be happy. If you see any colored or discolored lesion anywhere on your skin, then it indicates a dangerous lesion. They look different and do not fit the normal pattern of other moles. Your psoriasis is not the likely reason for penile melanosis. When the color of the skin looks darker, then there are more chances for you to have melanosis somewhere on your skin. Even bilateral ethnic melanosis of eyes is common and you have a normal penis.
