Why do I have a cord-like hard vein on my penis, which becomes prominent on my erection and painful during masturbation?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a cord-like hard vein on my penis beginning from the base of the penis from the central portion and ending just below the head of the penis on the left side. It becomes more prominent on erection and is painful during masturbation. It is palpable even when I do not have an erection. It has been five days since it started and it developed suddenly five days back. I have no pain or irritation and it is below the skin.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query. It is a dorsal penile vein. It might be because of the calcifications.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Is it something serious? Should I get any tests done? Can it be treated with medications?
