Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have gum disease (periodontitis). I am regularly going through cleaning and scaling. One of the dentists suggested I go for bone grafting for all the teeth. Can you suggest to what extent it will be useful for me? I have attached the scan copies of my teeth. I had an extraction done for my upper left third molar five years back due to a serious infection.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

First, though, you have lost your bone structure at a young age. It may have happened due to your lifestyle or medical and oral habits. Bone grafting is required when you have more bone structure destroyed. The bone gets resorbed so much that it no longer supports the tooth. Bone grafts are a regenerative procedure that replaces your ridges and holds your tooth firmly. The procedure reverses the damage by regenerating lost bone tissue. You can hold back your loose tooth and save your original tooth by bone grafting.

After viewing your radiographs (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), there is generalized bone loss. There is also bone loss of secondary grade. May I know if you have any medical issues? Kindly undergo a bone graft for your betterment.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
