Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I took the Pfizer vaccine seven months ago, and I had recently tested my antibodies. Results state that 166 BAU/mL. SARS-CoV-2 IgG anti-spike. This result is marked as high. So shall I get the booster, or is the current protection level enough?

Answered by Dr. Arpit Varshney

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

This value suggests you have a strong covid antibody level in your body. If you get this test repeated, these levels will be low, but that will not mean that you do not have covid protection. There is cellular immunity and humoral immunity. The tests you got done suggest only humoral immunity. There are no tests to determine cellular immunity. But production of antibodies is a work of cellular immunity. Since your cellular immunity is good as per the results, your cellular immunity will help you fight covid at any point of your life if you acquire covid. So there is nothing to worry about, you have good immunity against covid. However, if booster doses are available in your country, do get it, as the booster dose will only help to boost your immunity.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
