Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been prescribed Lymecycline for my skin. I am only in week one and my skin seems to have slightly worsened, with a really big hard lump on one side of my face. Do they work by drawing the impurities to the surface initially, and is my reaction normal?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Worsening of acne is not because of Lymecycline as the medicine takes time to start its action. It is simply the closed comedones which are converting into active pimples.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

I have just never had a cyst quite like this before. They are just normally lots of smaller ones. The attached picture shows it. Is it infected, and is there anything I can do to make it go down?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed the attached photograph (attachment removed to protect patient identity) and it is looking inflamed. I would recommend you to apply Adapalene 0.1 percent gel on the pimple at night and tablet Cephalexin 500 mg twice daily for five days. This will reduce it. Meanwhile, you can continue with Lymecycline.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
