This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am suffering from pleural effusion, all drugs are stopped due to high serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase, current problem I am facing is shortness of breath, and discomfort in sleeping.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Breathing problem is due to restricted lung-expansion due to presence of pleural effusion. It depends on the amount of fluid present in pleural cavity, more the fluid, more would be shortness of breath. Sleeping on the side of the pleural effusion will help. You have not mentioned the duration of treatment already taken before it was stopped, degree of effusion; was it diagnosed as tuberculosis; SGPT levels etc. Hence, I cannot comment further. Consult your doctor who is the best judge. In case of any further queries, revert back.

Regards.
