Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

While camping, I got a poison ivy rash on the head of my penis. Is it safe to apply calamine lotion on it to stop the itching?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

I suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below.

1. Clean the affected part of the penis with water for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove all plant remnants and wash effectively.

2. Apply a cold compress over the affected area.

3. Apply topical calamine (zinc oxide and iron oxide) lotion.

4. Take a tablet of Levocetirizine (levocetirizine dihydrochloride).

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
