Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I want to know how can I get pregnant with PCOS/PMOS. I am looking for an OB-GYN or reproductive specialist that could share some information on how to get pregnant when I am having PCOS/PMOS. Is it more difficult? How should I handle charting fertility with such irregular periods? Can women like me with PCOS/PMOS still ovulate each month? Should I see a specialist as soon as I start trying to conceive, or should I wait for an year?
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome)/PMOS (polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome) is a condition and not a disease. The problems in PCOS/PMOS are due to hormonal imbalances, which can be taken care of. Just by maintaining a chart, the irregular pattern can be studied and with the help of a Gynecologist, the ovulation time can be detected. Once the pattern of irregularity is known it becomes easy to plan pregnancy. Ovulation in PCOS/PMOS depends upon the extent of the condition, whether it has affected one or both ovaries. Ovulation may not happen every month. It is always better to plan your pregnancy under guidance, for early conception. Lifestyle modification and yoga along with a few hormonal supplements, help women conceive easily. Also, serial follicular study, Folic acid supplements, and timed intercourse help in conception.
I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
