Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have been suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome for a long time. I have had several failed treatments. Recently I stopped treatment as it was not going well with me. A month before, I got my periods back. It lasted for more than 15 days. I had medicine to put a halt to it. It stopped for four to five days. And now I have it again. It has been five to six days. I have continuous bleeding, and there is no control over it. What am I supposed to do? I am too weak even to walk properly. Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Your polycystic hormonal disturbance overreacted to externally induced hormones. Hormonal imbalance, intake, or withdrawal can cause side effects like irregular, unscheduled bleeding, breast tenderness, and bloating. Start iron supplements immediately as you feel weak, and take the tests like complete blood count and thyroid function test. Transvaginal scan outside bleeding days needed. Have an immediate report of hemoglobin and discuss it here or with your local gynecology doctor, as you have symptoms and may need extra immediate treatment in case of anemia. You can have combined oral contraceptive pills to regulate cycles only for three months if you are not feeling well with contraceptive pills. Take the tablet Norethisterone 10 mg twice daily and stop it once the bleeding stops. Have it for two months and check regularity and body response. Then, have a tablet of Mefenamic acid and a tablet of Tranexamic acid 500 mg from day 2 to 5 days, reducing bleeding. In case of abnormal symptoms like fainting or dizziness, immediately report to the hospital. You can now have Mefenamic acid and Tranexamic acid to stop bleeding and take the tablet Norethisterone just after stopping bleeding. Consider it as day 5 of periods to continue till day 26. I will suggest you take a complete blood count test, collect it, and discuss it immediately. Consult a specialist doctor, discuss wth them and take medication with their consent.
Please follow up for further assistance.
Thank you.
