Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
At the beginning of this month, I extracted my impacted wisdom tooth. It has been 25 days now. Still, I have numbness and tingling sensation on my tongue. I consulted my surgeon and he told me that everything looks fine and my wound is getting healed. But still, I have discomfort. What is the cause of having numbness with a tingling sensation on the tongue? Kindly provide the exact time of recovery. Can I have any complications? Will numbness or tingling subside on its own? Kindly suggest.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Kindly attach the image of the X-ray and extracted site. As it has been 25 days of post-extraction, you should not have discomfort by this time. You seem to have an issue. Numbness of the tongue should wear off after three to four hours of post-extraction unless there is an injury to the lingual nerve. It is a rare condition to occur and numbness lasts even after the action of anesthesia is over. In these cases, taking multivitamins helps a lot. Depending upon the injury, it takes around two to three months to become normal. Kindly attach an image to see the affected region and so I can help you better. With proper medications, you will become fine and numbness will fade off.
