Will kissing a few days after extraction delay healing?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I got my four wisdom teeth removed a few days ago. Will suction through the mouth while kissing affect the healing process or cause any problems?

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I understand your concern.

I would suggest avoiding any action that can lead to pressure in that area at least for a week after the extraction. With kissing and other forms of oral sex, the chances of clot dislodgement increase and lead to further complications. So I would suggest you avoid such activities.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
