Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My partner and I had unprotected sex last night. She had pain during the intercourse, so we stopped. Also, I did not ejaculate inside her vagina. However, after a few hours, she had slight bleeding. Is it a sign of pregnancy, or did she get hurt during intercourse?

Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It is not a sign of pregnancy. However, the following can be the causes of bleeding:

  • Infection in the vagina can cause bleeding or lead to dryness and cause bleeding during or after sex. I suggest tablet Doxy 100 mg (Doxycycline Monohydrate) twice a day after food for five days to prevent infection.
  • Dryness due to infection, improper foreplay, dehydration, age, or hormonal imbalance. I suggest she drink adequate water and use coconut oil or Ky gel (Glycerol and Hydroxyethylcellulose) during sex.
  • Forceful sex.
  • Normal menstrual bleeding due to an early period.
  • Vaginismus, in which fear during sex, causes muscles in the genital area to contract and cause pain.
  • Deep penetration in a few positions during sex.

I suggest her to take the tablet Pause 500 (Tranexamic Acid) to help reduce bleeding. Consult a specialist doctor, talk to him or her, and start the medicines with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
