Postinflammatory Pigmentary Changes

Postinflammatory pigmentary changes include both postinflammatory hypopigmentation and postinflammatory hyperpigmentation. Postinflammatory hypopigmentation is a condition where partial pigmentation loss occurs after the inflammation resolves. The common cause behind them is acquired hypopigmentary disorders, which are managed by sun exposure. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation occurs due to damage or irritation, causing the skin to turn brown, purple, or black. It is managed by applying vitamin C, hydroquinone, and corticosteroid creams.
