Q. Can contact with precum during non-penetrative sex result in pregnancy?
Hi doctor,
I had sexual intercourse with my wife after 21 days of her period. I urinated before sex. I took the penis out after three to four minutes only and then we did other things except for penetration. I did not ejaculate in or near the vagina. What are the chances of pregnancy? Are there any chances of pregnancy from pre-cum? I ejaculated after 25 to 30 minutes of penetration.

- Pregnancy can only happen if precum (pre-ejaculate) or if semen is released inside the vagina.
- She can carry out a urine pregnancy test (UPT) from the first day of a missed period. If she does not know when her next period is due, then do the test at least 10 days after unprotected sex.
- Wait for menstruation to happen.
- If menstruation does not happen and it has been more than 10 days, then go for a urine pregnancy test. If it comes negative, then go for a beta hCG test (human chorionic gonadotropin), and then visit a gynecologist for a detailed evaluation.
