Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Could pre-ejaculate (precum) lead to pregnancy if it were only inside for two to three seconds? I am also unsure about the presence of precum. Additionally, I have irregular periods ranging from 25 to 30 days. Does this affect the risk of pregnancy, or is it considered safe?
Thank you so much for your guidance and support.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Pre-ejaculate (precum) can cause pregnancy, though the risk is generally low, especially if there has not been recent ejaculation, as leftover sperm in the urethra can sometimes be present. Even brief unprotected penetration, like 2 to 3 seconds, could potentially lead to pregnancy if sperm is present and you are near ovulation. The absence of protection, together with your cycle tracking, makes it impossible to determine your pregnancy status.
A normal menstrual cycle for you should have a duration between 25 and 30 days. The irregularity that occurs within this time frame does not indicate any health issue. However, this pattern makes it more difficult to predict ovulation times. The timing method increases your chances of an unplanned pregnancy because it relies on unsafe predictions.
If you want to stop pregnancy right now, then every tiny risk becomes significant. Users should choose a birth control method that provides dependable results. Using a hormonal IUD together with non-estrogen options creates an effective birth control method. Emergency contraception remains available for use because the window for its application still exists.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
