Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had unprotected sex. My last period cycle was 7 to 12 days ago. My previous month's cycle was 31 days ago. Could I be pregnant?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
Based on the period dates you have shared:
The previous period was 36 to 33 days ago.
This month period was 7 to 12 days ago.
This suggests your menstrual cycle is shorter than average, around 24 days, which means ovulation could occur around cycle day ten, approximately three or two days ago. Suppose you had unprotected sex during or shortly after your period (around late May or early June). In that case, there is a possibility of pregnancy, especially because sperm can live in the body for up to five days. So, even sex toward the end of your period could lead to pregnancy if ovulation happens early.
Yes, it is possible to get pregnant if you had sex shortly after your period ended, especially with a short menstrual cycle. If you are concerned or trying to conceive (or avoid pregnancy), consider tracking ovulation and using protection as needed.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.
Thank you.
