Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had sex on the fourth day of my period. Intercourse (just for a few minutes) but ejaculate outside. During sex, I was still bleeding. My cycle is usually around 27 to 30 days. The latest cycles were 30, 30, 28, and 27. Is there any chance that I will get impregnated? Also, I did not take Plan B.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Periods is the safest time to have unprotected intercourse whereas pregnancy is concerned. It is highly unlikely to conceive during periods. There is no need of taking Plan B in such case. So do not worry.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

But from the information on the internet that pregnancy can occur during the period and some women ovulate at that time too, is that true?

Answered by Dr. Megha Tuli

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Not all the information on the internet is true. Hormone levels during periods are at the lowest and it is impossible to ovulate at that time. In women with PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease) or other hormonal issues, ovulation may not occur at peak of hormones, but even then ovulation during periods is impossible. So please do not worry.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
