Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
10 days before, I went to a massage center and had a massage. Then, unfortunately, the sexual incident happened. She did a body-to-body massage in nude condition. One or two times, her vagina touched my penis tip. She licked my breast nipple, and she kept her breast nipple in my mouth, and unfortunately, my lip and tongue touched her breast nipple. That time, I had small wounds in my mouth.
No penetration happened. The next day of this incident, I got a severe headache and vomited once. After six days of this incident, I got throat pain, fever, headache, and severe body pain. Then again yesterday night onwards, I have been suffering from throat pain, and today I am feeling a little fever. I am worried about hiv and other STDs. Kindly advise in this regard.
Please guide.
Hi,
Welcome to iclinq.com.
I understand your concerns.
Unfortunately, everything has happened. The symptoms of headache and vomiting may be related to dietary issues, anxiety, or acidity. The second set of symptoms may indicate an upper respiratory tract infection.
I suggest you follow this symptomatic treatment plan:
Stick to a light homemade diet during this time. While it does not seem like HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a concern at first, you cannot completely rule it out. Please wait for this treatment to see if your condition improves. The risk exposure is considered mild to moderate.
You should get tested using a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) test between 9 to 15 days after exposure, or a fourth-generation combination immunoassay for HIV-1 and HIV-2 (CIMAT kit) test on the 28th day. This test has multiple window periods, and it will likely come back negative, so try not to worry.
It is advisable to wait until you complete the upper respiratory tract infections before you get tested. You can also wait for a few additional days if needed. Other window periods for testing are on the 38th, 43rd, 54th, 63rd, 83rd, 103rd days, and so on.
I hope this answers your query.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for your reply.
Please guide.
Hi,
Welcome back to iclinq.com.
I understand your concerns.
Nothing is compulsory. I mentioned the test for safety purposes since I, as a doctor, am giving you my opinion. Ultimately, it is up to you. If you have no symptoms, testing is not advisable. However, you do have symptoms that I have diagnosed as an upper respiratory tract infection (URTI). Please be aware that these symptoms could also be related to HIV.
I hope this answers your query.
Thank you.
