What tests are required for after recent HIV exposure?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a recent HIV exposure. After that, I have taken an HIV duo non-reactive test and HIV RNA quantitative test. Suddenly, I have some skin rashes, body pain, neck pain and back pain, but no fever.

Please help.

Thanks.

hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

The HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) duo test is negative, with an index value of 0.07, which is very good. RNA (ribonucleic acid) HIV test is also negative, so no HIV is possible. Mild rashes, body pain, and neck pain may be due to other reasons. If rashes are huge and persistent than there is doubt. Take symptomatic treatment for these, and they will be gone.

For rash, take a tablet Montek LC (Montelukast and Levocetirizine) one at night for five days as required. Locally apply Betnovate C (Betamethasone valerate) below the neck if rash occurs twice. For body pain, sit in sunlight and take Flexon MR (Ibuprofen and Paracetamol) two times a day after food for five days. You can apply a Volini (Diclofenac) spray or gel to the pain site locally. A hot water bag can help locally till required.

The symptoms will vanish. There is nothing to worry about as the two tests you had undertaken are negative.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

But I did not have intercourse at all, like foreplay only with an unknown person. After that, I know that is why I am scared of that.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Foreplay does not at all come under HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). You had been tested for HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). Relax and do not panic. Yet you can consult a superspecialist, like a dermatologist, if required, personally.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
