Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 50-year-old man recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, and my daughter's wedding is just a month away. I am concerned about my health and would like to understand the role of medicines and a healthy diet in managing prostate cancer.
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
In most cases, prostate cancer is less aggressive, and with proper treatment, the patients can survive for more than five years. Treatment options depend on the stage of the tumor, the histopathology report, the patient's general condition, and whether the patient suffers from any other chronic illnesses. It is initially hormone-sensitive, which means that it can be managed with total androgen blockade.
Following a balanced diet that excludes red meat and animal fat, along with regular exercise, can help improve the survival and efficacy of the treatment. I suggest a Mediterranean diet that is based on seafood, along with a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits. Additionally, I can provide you with more valuable suggestions if I review the reports of your pathology and PSMA (prostate-specific membrane antigen) PET (positron emission tomography) scan or CECT (contrast-enhanced computed tomography) scan.
I wish you good health.
