Can prone masturbation cause premature ejaculation and ED?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am experiencing premature ejaculation problems. Earlier, my sexual stamina used to be around 25 to 30 minutes, but now it has reduced to about one to two minutes during intercourse. Whenever I insert my penis into the vagina, I ejaculate within a few seconds, and it has become very stressful for both my partner and me. I am extremely worried about this situation.

I also have difficulty getting an erection naturally. I am only able to get an erection in the same prone masturbation position that I have been used to for a long time. I find it difficult to achieve or maintain an erection in other situations.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern.

The condition you are describing is actually seen quite commonly in men who have practiced prone masturbation for a long time. The body can become conditioned to a very specific type of pressure and stimulation, making it harder to respond normally during intercourse or regular hand stimulation.

This can lead to difficulty getting erections naturally, reduced erection sustainability, and rapid ejaculation during penetration. The good thing is that this is usually functional and improvable, not permanent damage. Your history is consistent with premature ejaculation along with conditioning-related erectile difficulty.

The most important step is to completely stop prone masturbation and avoid rubbing against the bed because continuing it reinforces the same stimulation pattern. Gradually retrain yourself with gentler manual stimulation only, without excessive pressure or pornography. Initially, erections may feel weak or inconsistent, but many men improve gradually over weeks to months as sensitivity and arousal patterns normalize.

Regular exercise, proper sleep, reducing anxiety, pelvic floor exercises in moderation, and avoiding constant testing of erections are very important. During intercourse, techniques like slowing down, the pause-start method, using condoms to reduce sensitivity, and focusing less on performance can help.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.

Thank you.
