Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter is 1 month old. She is opening only her right eye from birth. She is unable to open her left eye completely and opens partially some times. Doctor told that the eye is perfect and told it will open slowly. Could you please let me know the cause and treatment?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

How old your daughter is? Is she having any allergy or discharge? Is she having watering from eyes? My request to you is kindly attach one clear photo of her eyes so that I can see it properly and let you know about your daughter's condition and depending upon that we can plan further for your case.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

My daughter is 30 days old. She is not allergic and does not have any discharge from the eyes. I am attaching images for your reference.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thank you for sending me your reports (attachment removed to protect patietn identity). For me, it is looking like she is having congenital ptosis. Because of that her eyes are not opening. Only treatment of this condition is surgery. With surgery her eyelid will go up and then she can see properly. For that, you have to consult a pediatric ophthalmologist who is the one can operate on her. Kindly consult with paediatric ophthalmologist and then you can plan her surgery. After that, she will be completely fine. Do not worry.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Is it required to consult a pediatric opthalmologist immediately or is it fine to wait for a few months due to the COVID situation?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, it is required but not urgently because this is a stable condition. So do not worry it will not progress. You can wait until the pandemic will get over.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
