Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had fungal infection on my pubic areas. After the treatment it went away, but the skin is not good. The skin is loose and after cleaning the hairs or wash with water my ass has gone dark in some areas. All the areas are sweaty and gives a bad smell.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You can do the following:

  1. Wear loose cotton inner wears.
  2. Wear loose fitting clothes.
  3. See that there is adequate ventilation.
  4. Maintaining area dry is important to prevent recurrence, moisture, smell, pigmentation.
  5. Moisture retention(sweating) in the area increases smell, and chances of recurrence.
  6. Fungal infections are known for recurrence. Friction and fungal infection can increase pigmentary changes.
  7. Clean the area with warm water atleast two to three times daily. You can use any mild soap or cleanser to clean area.
  8. Do not over clean or rub or use scrub which increases pigmentation.
  9. You can continue to use antifungal cream which helped you as and when required to prevent recurrence.
  10. You can also use antifungal dusting powders like Candid or Absorb powder daily to prevent recurrence. It also may help to reduce smell or pigmentation gradually.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Please also prescribe medicines. I also want to mention that my buttocks color has gone darker than my body color and also there are reddish spots. The skin has become more sweaty.

Hi,

Glad to have you back!

I am here to help you get the best medical advice.

Usually, the hyperpigmentation in the groins and inguinal region is resistant to treatment. Moreover, it is a sensitive zone. In some, it reduces in some weeks with good control of fungal infection. It is a sensitive zone to try with depigmenting agents. If you desire you can try OTC (over the counter) available hydroquinone creams or Kojic acid-based creams. But do not forget to continue all advice as suggested earlier. If it works out well for your satisfaction then it is good. If not you can consult your dermatologist for further examination and management.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
