Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My son incurred puffy eyes last week until now. He experiences fever and headache. Fever reduces when I give him Paracetamol but it will recur again and still, he is having swollen or puffy eyes. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As per the picture (attachment removed to protect patient identity), it seems your child is having some kind of allergy or infection. Are there any other symptoms like itching, pain or any eye discharge? How is his left eye? Is he having an allergy to anything he ate or came in contact with anything unusual?

We will do basic investigation urine routine including proteins and RBC (red blood cells), complete blood count and blood pressure presently you can give him Paracetamol 500 mg twice a day for three days and can repeat Paracetamol by keeping a gap of at least six hours between two doses if fever persists and tablet Cetirizine 5 mg once at night for five days and maintain proper hygiene of eyes. Avoid warm compresses for now.

Please upload a picture with an open eye and let me know the history in detail.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

We still tracing what seems to cause his allergy. Last week, he was crying almost the whole day and night as he suffered toothache. Then the next day we saw this in his eye. Nothing appears in his other eye. On the affected eye, there was no discharge.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen the attached picture. (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

It seems allergic only and at present, we can wait for antibiotics. Symptoms will subside in a day or two. Continue with Paracetamol and Cetirizine. In case any new symptoms present or symptoms does not subside we will start antibiotics. Also, make sure to get his toothache problem sorted out.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
