Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My son is 5 years old. He occasionally complains of burning sensation in urine. Before five months, he complained of burning sensation, and we did a urine test which showed pus cells 2 to 3 and albumin haziness. The doctor said that as fine and just advise to give more fluids. We did two more urine tests in the following three months, and they were normal. He occasionally complains about burning and sometimes, has puffy eyes in the mornings. I searched on the internet and got scared. Please advise if there is any need of worrying.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concerns. The morning puffiness your son experiences could be familial, especially if both you and his father have the same feature, or it might indicate edema. To determine if edema is present, press your finger against the lower part of his leg. If the indentation fades quickly, there's likely no edema. However, if the indentation takes a few seconds to fade, it could suggest edema, potentially indicating a kidney problem.

I recommend arranging a blood test to measure his albumin levels. If the levels are low, it might point to an underlying kidney issue. Additionally, a urine test along with a culture and sensitivity analysis should be conducted to identify any bacteria in his urine, as urinary infection can cause burning sensations. These steps will provide a clearer understanding of his situation and guide further appropriate actions.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
