Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had been suffering from tooth pulpitis. The dentist suggested RCT. What is pulp tissue regeneration and what are the factors important for a successful RCT?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understood your concern.

1. In root canal treatment, the infected pulp is removed and not regenerated.

2. The infected pulp is removed to prevent further infection and reduce your pain.

3. In root canal treatment (RCT) after pulp removal, the spaces are cleaned and non-resorbable. The material is placed in the place of pulp and then a restoration is given,

4. As the pulp is removed, the tooth's blood supply is cut off, so the tooth becomes lifeless. So, the tooth is easy to break. Hence, it is important to go for the crown.

5. Both stainless steel and ceramic stainless steel crowns are good.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.
