What are the treatments for rabies?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My neighbor's unvaccinated puppy bit my finger and caused some bleeding. Should I get a vaccination?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern about your symptoms,
Yes, you should get the immunization. Injection of anti-rabies vaccination on the first, third, seventh, fourteenth, and twenty-first days after the bite. This vaccine should be administered if a dog bites or licks the mucous membranes of the nose, eyes, or mouth, if the skin is injured, or if the dog scratches. For 15 minutes, thoroughly clean the wound with soap and running tap water for ten days, and keep an eye on the dog for any unusual behavior, activity, or death. There are no dietary limitations before or after a rabies vaccine - vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine is acceptable. However, alcohol should not be consumed while under treatment.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you want some help.
Thank you.
