How to manage rectal bleeding, weakness, and anemia?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My hemoglobin level is 5.8 grams per deciliter, which is very low and means I have severe anemia. Tonight, I had two episodes of rectal bleeding that lasted about five to eight minutes each, with blood coming out drop by drop. I am feeling very weak, have a headache, feel hot or feverish, and have been crying because I am scared.
What should I do right now?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Based on what you have described, a hemoglobin level of 5.8 grams per deciliter, rectal bleeding, weakness, headache, and a feverish feeling, this is a serious medical emergency. Your body may not be getting enough oxygen because of the very low hemoglobin, and the bleeding could be making it worse.
The symptoms you are feeling, especially the weakness and feeling hot or feverish, may be signs that your body is under severe stress. There is also a risk of infection or shock. Please do not wait. You need to go to the nearest emergency department immediately. You may need a blood transfusion, urgent tests to find the cause of the bleeding, such as a colonoscopy or imaging, and close medical care.
Try to take someone with you and go to the hospital right away. This is not something that can be treated at home. Your health and life are important, and doctors are there to help you and keep you safe.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer.
