How to treat my anal pain in the rectal area?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am having pain in my anal rectum that continues for hours. I feel like some cut happened at that place. I am doing sitz bath and taking homeopathy medicine but of no use, since it was from the past month. I am unable to sit continuously. Please suggest some medicines for getting relief from pain.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing pain in your anal rectum. Pain in this area can be caused by a variety of conditions, including anal fissures, hemorrhoids, infections, or inflammatory bowel disease. You can try the following measures to help relieve your pain:

  1. Take over-the-counter pain relievers, such as tablet Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen, as directed by your healthcare provider.
  2. Use a topical cream or ointment that contains an anesthetic, such as Lidocaine, to numb the area and relieve pain.
  3. Soak in warm water (also known as a sitz bath) for 10 to 15 minutes, two to three times per day. This can help reduce pain and inflammation.
  4. Apply a warm compress to the area for 10-15 minutes, several times per day.
  5. Avoid straining during bowel movements and try to keep your stools soft by eating a high-fiber diet and drinking plenty of fluids.

If you want a prescription, Feel free to contact me and I can prescribe you the proper treatment for the same.

Regards.
