Why have I had a red spot on the glans penis for a year?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a reddish, raised red spot on the glans penis that I have had for one year. There is no pain or itching. I stopped using soap on the glans penis because I thought it might be the cause, but it has not improved.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It is inflammatory in nature. The probable diagnosis in your case is balanitis. Do not use any antiseptic or intimate wash for cleaning. Use plain water for cleansing only. Along with proper hygiene, I am prescribing one ointment to be applied at night for two weeks. Improvement should begin with this treatment.

At present, there is no need to start any oral medication, as it will most likely resolve completely with topical treatment alone. Please inform me if you experience any irritation, itching over the affected area, or any other symptoms, so that oral medication can be started if necessary.

You can apply Eumosone-M cream (Clobetasone and Miconazole) at night for two weeks. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicines with their consent.

I hope it helped with your query.

Thank you.
