Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My husband has completed chemotherapy for AML and has been given Vancomycin for an infection. He has been given Vancomycin for the past week for an infection, and after about seven days of Vancomycin he started to get a red rash followed by high-grade fever, increased heart rate, and tightness in his chest. All those symptoms have gone, and it is now the fourth day since the symptoms started. He still has a bad red rash on his body with pain in his joints.
How long will these symptoms last, and what else can we expect over the next couple of days?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Most likely, your husband has experienced a hypersensitivity reaction to the Vancomycin. I am glad to hear that most of the symptoms have cleared. Please send me some pictures of the skin rash in order to be reviewed. Hopefully, there will be no more symptoms.
For further advice, please do not hesitate to follow up.
Thank you.
