Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My dog scratched my eye two days ago. Since then it has gotten very red on the right side. I have been flushing it with eye drops and all pain was gone after a few hours. How long will it take until it is no longer red?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As I see in photos (attachment removed to protect patient identity), you have something which we call it subconjunctival hemorrhage. It is just a drop of blood under the conjunctiva. It will go itself in a few days (about five). But in the photo, I could not define if there is a scratch on the cornea or conjunctiva or it is the light of the camera. However, nothing dangerous. I just prefer to use eye ointment (Fucithalmic acid) twice a day instead of drops, and better to see an Ophthalmologist to check cornea and conjunctiva and if there is anything.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
