Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have developed significant redness in one of my eyes; also, there is irritation and sensitivity. It is not conjunctivitis, as I had it before and was told it was an allergy and was prescribed Chlorsig eye drops. In the affected eye, there are two areas where the redness is prominent, and the blood vessels seem to join into one mass. The Chlorsig eye drops reduced the redness, but it never went away completely, and now it has flared up again after three months and is worse than before. It is very uncomfortable and scary to look in the mirror. Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
There is redness and raised blood vessels in the eye (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). It is a pterygium that is caused due to exposure to UV (ultraviolet rays) rays and dust. The antibiotic eye drop will not help in this condition. Instead, I suggest you a few things. Use Nepafenac (topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) eye drops thrice daily. Use Naphazoline (decongestant) eye drops twice daily. Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent. Kindly follow up after a week. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
