Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a root canal treatment two weeks ago, and going back to the dentist to finish the filling tomorrow. I am terrified because even after multiple anesthesia injections, one of the roots was paining badly when the dentist was cleaning them. I feel I cannot survive that kind of pain again. I am terrified. What can I do?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern, but the good news is it should not hurt if it is the final filling today. In case if the tooth hurts, then filling cannot be completed today. Tell your dentist to clean it. What happens in a root canal is that the pulp tissue which is the blood supply of the tooth is cleaned off. If there is no blood supply and the tooth has been completely cleaned then it cannot hurt. But, even if a bit of the pulp tissue is left behind, it may hurt after filling.

Thank you.
