Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am dealing with sciatica in both legs. I have a burning sensation with tingling and sharp shooting pain in both legs. I am feeling hard to stand for a long time. I got a sciatic flareup due to a slip in a fall accident. It happened six years back. I was diagnosed with lumbar facet syndrome.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You need to understand the physiology of facet joints. It helps to have healthy movement and intervertebral disc provides stability for each motion segment. Aging, osteoporosis, and traumatic injury can damage facet joints and it is the leading cause of back pain. It is known as facet joint syndrome. It is treated by medial branch blocks, intra-articular steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy. I suggest you take these medications to reduce the swelling of the disc and neurogenic problems. You can take capsule Gabapentin 100 mg twice daily for two weeks after food. You can take Calcirol sachet (vitamin D3) 60,000 IU once a week for four weeks after food and use Diclofenac gel locally twice daily for two weeks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
