Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I had a cyst removed yesterday afternoon in my underarm, but I have been feeling a lot of pain the whole day. I have been taking 800 milligrams of Ibuprofen, which is helping me for only four hours, but I keep having a lot of pain. I do not know if it is typical or if I have to go back to the doctor. This was done on the armpit. Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.
I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.
I understand your concern and will try to help you with it.
The underarm is a sensitive body region and can sometimes hurt more than expected significantly if some nerves are injured during the surgery. You can apply Ice to the wound every two hours to reduce the swelling and pain. Ibuprofen has an action lasting four to six hours, so that is expected. Here, I assume everything went as expected during the surgery. Still, please upload the doctor's notes and, if possible, a picture of the site without the dressing.
Still, if you want, I can suggest some alternative medication as well.
Thank you for consulting me.
You can always come back and reach me at icliniq.com.
Thank you.
