Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am considering compounded Semaglutide but am worried about long-term effects. How long can I safely take it? Also, what happens when I stop - will I gain all the weight back? I need urgent advice. Does it cause any addiction or something? Which compounded Semaglutide would you suggest for me?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Semaglutide, including compounded forms, is a medication used for weight loss and managing conditions like obesity and type 2 diabetes. While studies have shown that it can be effective for weight loss, it is important to be cautious with compounded versions, as they are not FDA (Food and Drug Administration) -approved, and their safety and efficacy can vary compared to the approved form. Long-term use of Semaglutide has been studied, and it can be safe as long as it is monitored by a healthcare provider. However, stopping the medication can lead to weight regain, as it works by suppressing appetite and helping with blood sugar control. Lifestyle changes like a balanced diet and regular exercise are essential for maintaining weight after stopping the medication.
Semaglutide does not cause addiction, but stopping abruptly might make it harder to maintain weight loss, as it influences appetite regulation. If you choose compounded Semaglutide, it is best to get it from a reputable pharmacy and make sure you are being monitored for side effects.
I would suggest discussing this further with your doctor or an endocrinologist who can guide you based on your health conditions and weight loss goals.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
